A Teeth Scale and Polish is a dental procedure to remove plaque, calculus, and staining from the surface of the teeth. It is done using specialized dental instruments and can be completed in as little as 20 minutes. In our practice we use ultrasonic scalers PIEZON® NO PAIN and AIR FLOW® HANDY 3.0 PREMIUM of the Swiss company EMS.
The procedure is generally pain-free, though you may experience some sensitivity after the appointment. It is recommended to have a scale and polish done every 6-12 months, or as advised by your dentist. It is not the same as periodontal treatment, which focuses on the health of the gums and the underlying structures of the teeth.
